Geraldine Thomas, PG Diploma Mindfulness

In 1995 Geraldine took part in one the first Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programmes (MBSR) to be introduced into the UK. This was led by Dr. Mark Williams, now Professor Mark Williams, and head of the Mindfulness Oxford Centre. Professor Mark Williams in collaboration with John Teasdale and Zindel Segal later went on to develop Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). 

Since 1995 Geraldine has gone on to deepen her experience, knowledge and understanding of the ‘core essence of mindfulness’. This has led her to study the teachings of Buddhism, where she has undertaken many teachings from world renowned teachers from within the Tibetan Kagyu tradition which has a particular emphasis on learning through experiential practice.  In addition to this she has undertaking training at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University, currently trained to PG diploma level.

In 2006 Mindflow was launched to bring mindfulness practice to the wider community. Geraldine is committed to deliver authentic mindfulness and contemplative based programmes for generic populations as well as specific groups. In addition to this Mindflow provides quality mindfulness based teacher training programmes in which it provides prospective mindfulness teachers with a comprehensive understanding of Eastern philosophy and its links with Western Science, namely through Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, Positive Psychology and Humanistic Psychology.

In 2011 Geraldine became an Honorary Lecturer in mindfulness at Liverpool John Moores University. She has taught mindfulness meditation groups for research purposes at Liverpool John Moores University and is currently completing her MSc in mindfulness based approaches. 

Geraldine is also a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, trained through the humanistic person centred approach. She is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adheres to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice (BACP, 2010). She is a member of the UK Mindfulness Teacher Trainer's Network (www.mindfulnessteachers.org.uk), as well as a mindfulness supervisor and British School of Yoga teacher.
